In a previous post I shared how through the years music has in many ways facilitated my connection with God. Music has been a beautiful gift.

So, why music? Why is it such a beautiful gift? Why is this something I want to share with the world?

Music not only helps us to connect with God; Throughout scripture worship (singing and playing instruments) leads to breakthrough and victory.

In the Old Testament, many times at God’s command, the musicians were sent out ahead of the army. The worshippers were on the front lines. As they worshipped, God fought for them and gave them the victory. There are so many stories of wildly miraculous breakthrough, beginning with praise.

In the New Testament, I think of Paul & Silas worshipping as they sat there in jail - God breaks in… and breaks them out! (Acts 16)

Spiritually, this same exchange is happening ALL the time. As we fix our eyes on Jesus and exalt Him, he fights for us.

The problem is, we don’t always get to see it. God is working on our behalf. He is throwing the enemy into confusion. He is crushing the opposition. He is making a way of escape - but much of this can’t be seen with the natural eye.

It reminds me of a story. In the sixth chapter of 2 Kings, the prophet Elisha was being pursued by an army. His servant was freaking out! But Elisha could see, and declared,

“Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Then Elisha prayed and his servant saw the reality. Heaven’s armies were there to defend them.

There is the issue of timing too. God’s timing is wholly and completely PERFECT. But He doesn‘t consult us and sync up with our timeline. Our plans. His ways are higher! (Isaiah 55:8-9)

So, in these moments OR months of waiting on God for the breakthrough it is so important to reset and refocus on Him. His plans. His purpose. His heart.

Keep in step with Him. Wait patiently. Keep trusting. Keep singing His praise.

Because, He is faithful. He is working all things together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

It’s the TRUTH!

We’ve seen the goodness of God- break in - and break us out! We can testify to miracles of healing and deliverance.

There are times when singing praise and worship doesn’t seem to make sense. It’s in those moments that it is crucial! Get your eyes off of the battle. Off of yourself. Lock eyes with Jesus and sing praise!

Breakthrough is on its way.

So, why Music? Music is a beautiful gift. Music is a powerful gift, leading to breakthrough and victory!
