What is Music Education? Is it forming a Choir? Is it establishing an Instrumental Program? Band? Orchestra? What do you think of when you hear that we are pioneering a Music Program in Bethlehem?

As a Music Educator for over 32 years, focusing much of my energy on teaching children in the early years, the answer is all of the above, and so much more.

In the early years, Pre-K through Second Grade, it is crucial to build a strong foundation in the fundamentals of music through exploration. How does music work? To facilitate discovery; We play. We dance. We sing. We figure it out together through hands on, fun, interactive learning.

This has been my goal for my students all along! As children fall in love with music, it awakens the desire to know more, and do more. My hope is to inspire children to become better musicians, because of the joy they've experienced through the process of learning.

Choir. Band. Orchestra. All of the dreams and aspirations for a comprehensive music program will come together and be more successful if children have a strong foundation to build on.

We have a beautiful opportunity to enrich the landscape at the Jerusalem School of Bethlehem by building a comprehensive, hands-on music program from the ground up.

With our youngest students: We will play. We will dance. We will sing. We will explore the fundamentals of music and learn how it works, together. We will build a strong foundation.

With our older students: We are dreaming big. We hope to begin with Choir and add Instrumental Programs when the time is right.

Pioneering a Music Program at Jerusalem School Bethlehem is a long-term journey that will take years to fully realize. But every great piece of music starts with a single note, and I am incredibly excited to get started!
