My journey toward Christ began in childhood, sparked by curiosity during Sunday Mass. While I spent many Sunday mornings comparing the statues of saints lining the church walls, my eyes always returned to the man on the cross at the sanctuary's center.
I knew intuitively He was special because of His place of honor, yet I wondered: Could He see or hear me? As a young boy searching for hope, I felt a quiet desire for a connection, even as I wrestled with the fear of whether He truly cared.
Over time, this understanding deepened. At fourteen, I was invited to a youth retreat—a completely new experience. As the week unfolded, the sessions began to answer the questions I had carried out since those early years.
I realized then that I didn't want to just know about Him; I wanted to truly know Him. I longed for a bond that went beyond facts and stone. Even though I felt I had nothing to offer, I saw that He had everything I needed. In that moment, I chose to follow Him.
As a new disciple, I quickly realized how many lessons I had to learn. Yet, the more I immersed myself in the Bible and spent time in prayer, the more my faith grew. Going deeper into my relationship with Him allowed me to truly understand the depth of His sacrifice. Having received God's precious gift of salvation and eternal life, my desire is to share this message of hope.
My parents played a vital role during this season, modeling what it means to pray and walk faithfully. They were experiencing their own spiritual awakening in Christ, deeply immersing themselves in Scripture, prayer, and fellowship with our church family.
During my young adult years, my faith began to deepen, and I found myself echoing the deep longing of David. His words in Psalm 27:4 became my own heart's cry: 'One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple'.
This lifelong path is far from over. As an adult follower of Christ, I continue to learn more about Him every day. Through the trials and conflicts of life, He has faithfully sustained me and kept me secure under His wings of protection. Today, my entire family shares this spiritual walk, and my deepest desire is that my children and grandchildren will experience this same intimate, personal relationship with Christ.
